An enlisted man’s watch issued to ground forces throughout the U.S. Army during World War II. This watch features a highly visible art deco style illuminated dial, sub-dial seconds, and nickel-plated brass case. Utilitarian, simplistic, and fashionable; this watch was an everyday essential for America’s fighting men. With specifications adopted in 1942, these watches were across the globe in all theaters of operations. Ordnance Department watches, though designed for the Army, were ordered and supplied by every branch during the war to include the Navy, Marine Corps, and Army Air Corps. The "OG" grade 10609 produced by Waltham was originally a 7-9 jewel field watch, but ours has been upgraded to a 21-jewel mechanical movement for modern reliability while still maintaining original features. Whether you were a Seabee, WAC, nurse, ground crewman, or GI in a foxhole, these watches were a tried-and-true workhorse.
